Back to the first slide Previous slide Next slide
Louisiana wetlands provide winter habitat for 50% of the Mississippi flyway waterfowl population, and almost 20% of the entire U.S. winter population of ducks and geese. The wetlands support an annual $200 million sport hunting industry. The wetlands support the annual $14 million, and growing, alligator industry, and the state leads the nation in trapping of fur-bearing animals, most of which are found in the coastal wetlands.
