Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus to Host Federal Coastal Restoration and Recovery Town Halls Meetings, Thursday, August 5.
BATON ROUGE -- On Thursday, August 5 in Houma and Buras, federal officials will hold coastal ecosystem restoration and recovery meetings to discuss Louisiana's coastal needs.
Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who has been charged by President Barack Obama with developing a long-term ecosystem restoration effort for the Gulf Coast, will lead the meetings along with officials from other federal agencies.
The meetings will be held at the following locations:
• Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd., Houma. Noon-1:30 p.m.
• Buras Auditorium/Plaquemines Parish 35619 Highway 11, Buras. 6-7:30 p.m.
In addition to the two meetings in Louisiana, federal officials will hold meetings in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Texas.
