Jefferson Parish has a job opening for an Environmental Quality Technician II position within the Department of Environmental Affairs. The job position would assist the Coastal Programs Supervisor. Work Description:
This position involves the inspection of local industries and commercial establishments and the sampling of effluents from these industries to determine compliance with Parish, State and Federal regulations. Evaluates proposed treatment facilities to determine adequacy; discusses plant operations with plant's management and determine best sampling point(s); prepares sample bottles and collects field samples using appropriate procedures and equipment; evaluates results of laboratory analysis to determine compliance or possible corrective actions for non-compliant industries; routinely samples wastewater in sanitary sewerage and storm drainage systems; conducts maintenance of equipment, instruments and vehicles; participates in solid waste activities including storm debris removal; responds to citizen complaints and hazardous incidents, enters data into a personal computer; records and files analytical results, reports, etc.; and assists environmental staff members with other assignments including Coastal Zone Management activities, WHICH INCLUDES SOME BOATING AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES; and other duties as required.
