Volunteers Needed for Dune Restoration Project at Holly Beach

CRCL and Citgo are partnering up to restore the coast!

Dune restoration project at Holly Beach

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) and CITGO Petroleum Corporation are excited to announce our dune restoration event in Holly Beach on Saturday, September 20th. We will be planting a 5 mile stretch of newly constructed beach with 70,000 plugs of dune grass. This the largest volunteer-based restoration project this area of Louisiana has ever seen and we are inviting you to be a part of history with us! The goal of this project is to increase soil retention along the newly constructed beach, promote dune growth, provide critical habitat for nesting birds, and enhance protection to the coastal communities of Cameron parish.

Project Details:

When: Saturday September 20, 2014
8:00 am to no later than 4:00 pm

Where: Holly Beach, LA

Note: All volunteers - you will meet at CITGO park in Sulphur to board shuttle buses and be transported to Holly Beach. *Exception* if you live south of Sulphur then you are not expected to ride the shuttle. I will contact you with different instructions the week of the event.
