PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 20-Dec-2024
Naomi Outfall Management
PROJECT LOCATION:
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The project will manage the outfall of the existing eight siphons by controlling the movement of the diverted waters. The siphons divert sediment-laden water from the Mississippi River into the west bank wetlands to retard saltwater intrusion and enhance wetland productivity. Outfall Management of the diverted waters provides an opportunity to realize the full benefits of the fresh water and sediments available through the existing siphons.
PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 06-Dec-2002 )
This project was combined with the BBWW "Dupre Cut" East project for planning and design; construction will be separate. The operation of the siphon is being reviewed by DNR. Hydraulic analysis is complete; results concurred in by both agencies. Construction contract advertised in March 2002. Construction began June 2002 and completed in July 2002. O&M plan in draft.
FUND STATUS:
The current project estimate is $2,521,124 , which includes $1,103,277 for construction first costs, and $693,715 and $724,132 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
