PROJECT LOCATION:

This project is located on the east bank of the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project area consists of approximately 5,000 acres. The objective of the project is to introduce freshwater from the river into the marsh.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 11-Dec-2001 )

Total project cost estimate is $12,994,800; Priority List 8 funded $2,500,000 for completion of engineering and design and construction of the outflow channel. Funding of the siphon will be requested when engineering and design are completed. Project feasibility being evaluated. DNR has solicited a cost estimate from one of their engineering firms to perform a feasibility study. Target dates will be established if project is deemed feasible. Deauthorization procedures initiated.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $56,476 , which includes $56,476 for construction first costs, and $0 and $0 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
