PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, along the east bank of the Mississippi River at mile 21.6 above Head of Passes, upstream from Fort St. Philip.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

A diversion channel will be constructed along the left descending bank of the Mississippi River up stream from Fort St. Philip. The channel will be constructed mainly through shallow open water and will tie into the Mississippi River. The diversion channel will be sized to create about 412 acres of marsh over the project life. Dredged material will be used beneficially to create approximately 43 acres of marsh.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $1,178,640 , which includes $1,176,586 for construction first costs, and $2,054 and $0 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
