PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project will restore, to the extent possible, the natural hydrology of the area. A reduction in marsh loss and improved water conditions are expected to occur following project implementation. Long-term water management objectives will be directed towards maintaining a brackish marsh system. The project includes rebuilding the Alkali Ditch levee, utilizing dredge material from the Calcasieu River when available, water control structures and canal plugs.
