PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 21-Nov-2024

Compost Demo DEAUTHORIZED

PROJECT LOCATION:

Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project will demonstrate under field conditions the degree of influence which compost has in establishing vegetation on newly deposited sediment and dredged material within a previously open water area. The demonstration will provide the basis to create the technology and scientific database to develop the recipe for compost in wetlands for the various hydrologic basins in LA. The new technology will provide for new markets and alternatives for disposal of the compost material which now burdens landfills.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 07-Aug-2001 )

Plans and specifications have been finalized. All permits and construction approvals have been obtained. The amount of compost vegetation needed has not yet been supplied. A smaller sized demonstration has been designed. Advertisement for construction bids has been made. The Task Force approved deauthorization on January 16, 2002.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $255,391 , which includes $231,392 for construction first costs, and $23,998 and $0 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
