Bio-Engineered Oyster Reef DEMO COMPLETE

PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located within Cameron Parish, on the Gulf front of Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, and is approximately 3 miles west of the Joseph's Harbor Canal.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project features are 2-300 foot long concrete ring structures. The first ring structure is made of reinforced Oyster-crete (a form of variable density concrete), and the second ring structure is made of typical reinforced concrete. Two types of concrete were used to measure any differences within bio-accumulation on the structures as reef building material.

Oyster and elevation surveys are complete and a final report are in process.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $2,229,773 , which includes $1,901,977 for construction first costs, and $307,642 and $20,154 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
