PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 10-Sep-2024
Southwest Shore White Lake Demo DEAUTHORIZED
PROJECT LOCATION:
The project is located two miles north of LA Hwy 82 at the Vermilion/Cameron Parish line.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Erosion along the southwestern shoreline of White Lake is threatening to breach into Deep Lake. If shoreline erosion continues, emergent wetlands will convert into shallow open water areas and eventually become part of the lake. The objective of the project is to stabilize one mile of the White Lake shoreline and prevent breaching into Deep Lake. The project will determine if California Bulrush (Scirpus californicus) is effective at damping high energy wave. If successful, this cost effective solution to erosion problems can be used throughout coastal Louisiana.
PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 01-Jan-1990 )
Complete. Project deauthorized.
FUND STATUS:
The current project estimate is $103,468 , which includes $41,777 for construction first costs, and $48,085 and $13,607 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
