PROJECT LOCATION:

The project is located approximately 0.2 mile west of Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

This project would create and nourish 537 acres of open water, emergent saline smooth cordgrass marsh, and black mangrove habitat using material dredged from adjacent navigation channels. Earthen containment dikes will be constructed along the project boundaries to contain the material.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 09-Jun-2021 )

The project was approved for Phase 1 engineering and design funding in January 2015. The 30% design review meeting was held on July 10, 2018 and the 95% design review meeting was held on October 24, 2018. The project was approved for Phase 2 construction in January 2020.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $29,521,927 , which includes $28,320,652 for construction first costs, and $256,658 and $944,617 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
