PROJECT LOCATION:

The TE-45 project is located in Region 3, approximately 18 miles southeast of Chauvin, LA. in Terrebonne Parish, LA. The project structures are located along the rapidly eroding northwest shore of Lake Barre, which is part of Terrebonne Bay.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The project evaluates cost and effectiveness of three fabricated structures placed along the shore in abating shoreline erosion and for their ability to develop and sustain an oyster reef. The project is distributed along three (3) shoreline sites and includes three (3) shore protection treatments including Gabion mats, Ajacks, and ReefBlks. The TE-45 demonstration project’s monitoring life is eight (8) years.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 01-Mar-2021 )

All structures and signs have been removed from the project site. CPRA and FWS are in the process of closing out all of the costs and budgeting issues associated with this project. This should be completed March/April 2021.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $3,314,982 , which includes $2,255,380 for construction first costs, and $438,656 and $620,946 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
