PROJECT STATUS REPORT as of 04-Oct-2024

Lost Lake Marsh Creation and Hydrologic Restoration

PROJECT LOCATION:

This project is located in western Terrebonne Parish in the vicinity of Lost Lake.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

Approximately 465 acres of marsh will be created between Lake Pagie and Bayou DeCade, north of Bayou DeCade, and along the northwestern Lost Lake shoreline. Borrow material will be taken from within Lost Lake and pumped via a hydraulic dredge into the marsh creation sites. In addition, 30,000 linear feet (26 acres) of terraces will be constructed to reduce fetch in an area of deteriorated marsh north of Bayou DeCade. Fixed-crest weirs along Carencro Bayou and Little Carencro Bayou will be replaced with variable-crest structures to increase freshwater and sediment delivery into project area marshes.

PROJECT STATUS: (Project Status Last Updated: 19-Feb-2021 )

Project construction was completed in November 2018. In January 2021, vegetative plantings were installed in the marsh creation cell along the northwestern Lost Lake shoreline to address an area of erosion. The project is now in the OM&M phase.

FUND STATUS:

The current project estimate is $31,381,114 , which includes $30,447,456 for construction first costs, and $484,768 and $448,890 for 20 years of monitoring and operations and maintenance, respectively.
