Swamp Restoration Suitability Assessment for the Pontchartrain Basin
This report discusses and assessment we made of the Pontchartrain Basin of where it is currently suitable to conduct swamp restoration activities based on surface and soil salinities from 2014 and 2015. There are over 75,000 acres that are restoration ready which is room for 14.5 million trees!!!
Update on Plantings and Tree Monitoring in the Vicinity of the Caernarvon Freshwater Diversion: May, 2014 to July, 2016
This report discusses the planting and monitoring of 17,594 swamp trees in the vicinity of the Caernarvon Freshwater Diversion. So far we have observed 88% survival across all species and seasons!! In addition we have observed high growth rates, both height and width.Also presented in the report are 22 lessons learned from five years of swamp restoration.
