Abstract:
The Louisiana State Legislature created CWPPRA in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The restoration plans developed persuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to arresting coastal wetlands loss. These data sets include mosaicked aerial photographs within the various CWPPRA project boundaries for various years. This data is used as a basemap for habitat and land/water analysis. It also serves as a visual tool for project managers to help them identify any obvious problems or land loss within their project boundary.
Purpose:
The intended use of this data set is to provide information to aid efforts in the conservation, restoration, creation and enhancement of Louisiana's coastal wetlands in order to aid in long-term solutions to these and other problems.
Supplemental_Information:
A project boundary may be included on some hard copy maps. This boundary was created by the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and therefore the information on the process will not be noted in this metadata set.

Working with aerial photography with an overlap of 20%-25% coverage, cut lines are created on the scanned images to ensure overlap. The image processing software allows the mosaic to be overlaid onto a georeferenced image of the same area, to see how closely the mosaic resembles it.

The horizontal positional accuracy is assured by matching a known test pixel with another known location on a previous years mosaic, SPOT imagery or DOQQ. Using Imagine image processing software, the scanned .tiff images are rectified using georeferenced sources. (GPS points, SPOT imagery, or DOQQ) The image is then checked for accuracy, and mosaiced with the adjacent rectified images. The mosaic is overlaid onto the reference source and checked for positional accuracy. The mosaic is then placed into an ArcView map layout and plotted on mylar for use in cartographic work
